Jennifer Lopez’ Chocolate Top Knot
When sizzling hot American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez’ chocolate top knot was tightly wrapped at the back of her head, it made a striking hair statement.
Although not everyone agreed with Jennifer’s top knot hairstyle choice, when combined with her ultra-sex David Koma form fitting black long sleeved gown, the superstar looked sophisticated and edgy.
Hair Knots Have Evolved
Hair knots are not just for the ballerina, busy mom or health club visitor.
As Jennifer has proven many times over the course of her career, a bun – topknot or not – can be sexy, beautiful, trendy or even elegant.
Jennifer Lopez’ Milk Chocolate Base
A key ingredient of Jennifer Lopez’ elegant top knot is her spectacular milk chocolate hair color carefully kissed with subtle highlights and low lights.
It’s no secret Jennifer Lopez has logged some major chair time with NYC hair color guru Rita Hazan.
The celebrity hair colorist keeps Jennifer Lopez’ hair looking luscious.

Hairstylist Lorenzo Martin created Jennifer’s sky high top knot on day old hair.
To guarantee a perfect top knot, Martin applied a firm holding hair gel to Jennifer’s hair before pulling all of her hair up and off her face into a very tight, high based ponytail.
Martin left a small section of hair free to wrap at the base of the pony to cover the pony elastic.
Twist the ponytail hair in a clockwise or counterclockwise position until it’s completely twisted and bending over upon itself. Pin into place. Spray with firm holding hairspray.
To secure the hair around the ponytail, be sure to apply a little hairspray or gel onto a clean hairbrush and brush on top of any loose strands.
Jennifer Lopez knows how to make a great entrance. A great gown coupled with an amazing top knot is a fabulous way to glam up any appearance.
